Base Specifications

Packaged Fire-Suppression Pump System

System House / Enclosure

GENERAL:

The fire-suppression system environmental enclosure shall be constructed with prefabricated panels, formed to exact size as described below, and erected on the system’s structural base at the facilities of the system manufacturer prior to shipment.

PANEL CONSTRUCTION:

The prefabricated panels shall consist of a rigid urethane core with die formed metal pans bonded in place with a urethane-based adhesive to create a rigid structural panel. Panels shall feature a tongue-and-groove profile for positive alignment and sealing. Standard panels shall be manufactured in 46 ¾ inch widths. Corners to be of one piece molded construction. All standard panels shall be interchangeable for ease of assembly. Special panels (if required) shall be manufactured to obtain a specific size. Wall panels shall be constructed to a minimum thickness of 3 2 inches and roof panels shall be of a minimum 5 inch thickness.

Interior steel panels shall be constructed of 26 gauge galvanized steel, and exterior panels shall be constructed of 24 gauge galvanized steel, both with a stucco embossed finish. (Optional panels of aluminum or stainless steel are available)

FINISHES:

The standard exterior coating shall be sand tan, and the standard interior coating shall be white.

(Optional or special interior and exterior coatings are available)

INSULATION:

The pump housing insulation shall be 100% rigid, poured-in-place urethane, with a nominal in-place density of 2.2 pounds per cubic foot. The insulating material shall be UL listed, Class I rated, with ASTM E-84 core rated Flame Spread of 25 or less and Smoke Developed of 450 or less. The 3 ½-inch thick wall panels shall have a thermal resistance rating of R-30 (U factor of 0.033) and the 5-inch thick roof panels shall have a thermal resistance rating of R-42 (U factor of 0.024).

PANEL SEAMS:

Panel fasteners shall be of the cam-lock type. The cam-lock fasteners shall provide a tight and positive seal. Fastener shall consist of a steel housing, hook, and pin, and a high-pressure die-cast zinc cam. A hardened-steel hexagonal wrench shall used to tighten the panel fasteners. The hook of an individual fastener shall engage over the pin when rotating the wrench and with cam action, draw the panels together. Polyethylene snap caps shall cover the wrench holes. Lock spacing shall not exceed 42 inches.

Each joint shall exhibit a polyvinyl chloride (PVC) bulb-type, double-lined compression gasket, to eliminate water vapor permeability, and to provide a stable environment for the system’s equipment. All gaskets shall be factory installed and shall require no additional handling. Gaskets shall be resistant to chemical corrosion and ultraviolet radiation. Allowable gasketing temperature range shall be -30° F to +160° F (-34° C to +71° C).

ROOF:

Roofing exterior construction shall be 22 gauge galvanized steel, with a standing-seam type design. The minimum roof slope shall be 3 inch per foot, and the roof pitch should be directed away from all doorways in the house.

FLOOR:

Flooring shall be of 3@ steel diamond tread plate, installed over the standard system structural base.

APPURTENANCES:

One set of double doors (36" wide x 84" high) shall be provided in the enclosure, located as to provide ease of access to the fire-suppression system. Doors and door panels shall be of the same general construction and insulation as wall and ceiling panels. Doors shall be of the inset type. The direction of door swing is to be outdoors. The doors shall feature a plastic magnetic steel core gasket on three sides of a positive seal. The doors shall have and adjustable vinyl wiper gasket as a threshold seal. All gaskets shall be easily replaceable and resistant to damage from oils, fats, water, detergents, and fuel oil. All gaskets shall meet NSF requirements. Door locks (key and cylinder and/or padlock) shall be provided with the unit.

All hinges shall be cam-rise, lift-off hinges, consisting of a pressure-die cast strap and flange with a brushed satin surface with chrome finish. Bearing to be composed of cam and follower made of self-lubricating nylon (Zytel). Hinge sets shall feature a spring-assisted operation to facilitate closing. A minimum of two hinges shall be provided per door.

Latch and strike shall be pressure die-cast body with a brushed-satin chrome surface finish. Latch to be provided with key cylinder lock, 2 keys, and provision for padlock (lock by others). Latch to have inside safety release to prevent entrapment.

All ventilation and entrance/exit ways shall be provided with galvanized steel awnings or weather hoods, to reduce or prevent the entrance of falling rain or snow into the interior of the building when one of these air or traffic ways is in use.

Appurtenances for all piping, fuel-oil tank vent and fill lines, ventilation, and engine exhaust shall be provided prior to shipment from factory, where applicable. Electrical feed ports shall be field cut and flashed by others.

ELECTRICAL ACCESSORIES:

All house lighting and electrical accessories necessary to provide an adequate equipment working environment shall be provided by the system manufacturer. Single phase, 60 Hertz electric service shall be provided in the house, if not by owner, then by a 460V / 3f to 120V / 1f control power transformer, to be provided by system manufacturer, if required. All electrical components shall be UL listed, and all wiring and installation shall conform to NFPA Pamphlet 70 (National Electric Code) requirements. All house electrical accessories shall be factory-installed and factory-wired, prior to shipment of the unit.

The following electrical components shall be included in the system enclosure:

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

A sprinkler system shall be provided for the house interior, per NFPA Pamphlet 13 requirements.

The minimum live load for an enclosure of fourteen feet width shall be a minimum of 40 pounds per square foot (psf). The allowable wind load for a building of 11'-9" or less height shall be 26 psf at 100 mph.

The system enclosure shall be as manufactured by Kysor-Needham, or approved equal.

WARRANTY:

NAMCO guarantees the structural panels are free of defects in material and workmanship for a period of ten (10) years from date of shipment. The electrical and hardware components are warranted for a period of one (1) year from date of shipment. The pump station carries the manufacturer’s standard warranty (Option: available with various extended warranties).
